How to choose the egg donation cycle? 

Fresh or frozen, there are different opinions. We currently offer two forms of egg donation services: fresh pairing cycles and frozen egg donation. Simply put, it depends on whether you want to "pick and do it now" or use "pre harvested and refrigerated" eggs. Both methods have their own advantages, let's talk about them in detail.

01 | Fresh matching egg donation: 

This process is a bit like "appointment donation". After the prospective parents select their desired egg donor, we arrange for her to enter the ovulation promotion process. After the egg matures, it is directly retrieved through egg retrieval surgery and immediately fertilized and cultured in the laboratory. The entire process, from egg donation to embryo formation, is seamless.

Suitable for: Expectant parents who are concerned about matching conditions and want to ensure that all aspects are "designed for me".

Waiting for the donor to prepare for the egg donation cycle. The donor's physical condition can affect the timing (such as ovulation induction). 

02 | Frozen egg donation: 

Frozen eggs, simply understood as "early retrieval, low-temperature freezing", are thawed and used when you are ready. You can choose a donor from our library who has already completed egg retrieval and frozen eggs. After selection, we will send her eggs to your designated IVF clinic for thawing, fertilization, and transplantation.

The practical advantages of freezing eggs:

You don't have to wait for the egg donor to schedule, the time is more flexible and there is no pressure of cycle synchronization. You can start when you are ready, the cost is more cost-effective, the process is clearer, and it is particularly friendly to families with uncertain schedules. Some families even purchase multiple frozen eggs at once for subsequent PGT gene screening (chromosome screening or gender selection), which requires higher quantity and quality of eggs.

03|What is the success rate? 

Actually, science has already made it clear that many people ask, "Is freezing eggs not as good as keeping them fresh

In fact, this question had already been answered in the scientific community several years ago. We cite a long-term research conclusion covering the years 2013 to 2020:

There is not much difference in success rate between frozen eggs and fresh eggs, and frozen eggs have significant advantages in terms of operational flexibility and reducing pressure on both parties

In other words, as long as the egg quality is good, the method is not the key.

The advancement of technology has made the recovery rate of frozen eggs increasingly high, and now thawed eggs can smoothly enter the in vitro fertilization process, with impressive implantation and pregnancy rates. You don't have to hesitate about the word 'frozen', it's no longer the 'second choice' of the past.

Why are fresh eggs still popular? 

Of course, many families still firmly choose the fresh cycle, and there are also their reasons.

Fresh eggs usually yield more embryos within one cycle and can be frozen for future use, preparing for a second child or another transplant. Some expectant parents prefer a more customized process: from egg retrieval to fertilization to transplantation, each step is carried out separately for the family, providing greater psychological peace of mind. But two things should be noted:

The fresh cycle is greatly affected by the physical condition of the egg donor, and sometimes it takes several more months to wait for an "ideal candidate"; A large number of embryos ≠ all usable. How to handle embryos that are not used involves ethics and emotions, and it is also necessary to think carefully in advance. In summary, have you noticed that this is not actually a question of 'which one is better', but rather 'which one is more suitable for me?'

If you have a tight schedule, limited budget, and want to schedule your IVF cycle earlier, freezing eggs is the ideal choice. If you have high demands for personalized egg donation matching or want to obtain more storable embryos, fresh cycles may be more desirable. Every time we come up with a plan for expectant parents, we first discuss a few things:

When do you want the cycle to start? Do you have any preferred characteristics of egg donors? Are you planning to undergo embryo screening or a two child plan? Is there a clear upper limit to the budget? Different answers will correspond to different cycle designs.
